My very first cosplay was constructed out of cardboard, styrofoam, and whatever materials I could afford from thrift shops. And I loved wearing it!Despite my lack of skill and expensive materials, I was really happy with the end result and every time I wear it I tend to modify bits and pieces of it to enhance it.One of the fun things about cosplay is being able to look back to a cosplay you continuously improve upon.I’m sure many of you can recall at your first cosplay with a playful cringe at some of the things you stuck together to have it ready by convention weekend. What was your first cosplay and how awesomely awful was it?

Poking a bit of fun with a an idea we’ve done before! At conventions you’ll meet all sorts of other cosplayers. These are wonderful opportunities to make all sorts of new friends and to learn some new tricks of the trade. I particularly enjoy talking about props and armour builds because you can easily tell the amount of time and work they put into them and it’s really interesting and useful to see/hear their build strategies. If you’re lucky it’ll give you some ideas for your future props and armour!Make some new friends and swap some tips and tricks for next time! And of course, it never hurts to follow them online to keep an eye on them!I also really wanted an excuse to draw Braum! THAT MOUSTACHE IS glorious! *A*

Hope everyone had a ton of fun at Anime North 2014! Shirts were delivered, cosplay cards were given out, photos…so many photos were taken, T’was a crackin’ good time! But first, a moment of silence for our dear friends who we must remember to keep in both our memories and in our hearts. Those poor unfortunate souls who didn’t get their cosplay completed on time due to unreceived packages or cosplay gremlins mucking about.Either way, this comic is for you! We bow our heads both in our most heartfelt sympathy…and to hide our grins because we’re relieved your fate is not ours!

One of the best parts of cosplaying is getting to pick the character. Some people like to choose characters that reflect themselves and highlight the values they believe in. Others like to try their hand at being someone morally despicable!Of course being the hero is a wonderful thing. You inspire children and you get to pose all heroic.
…or cosplay let’s you decide to say screw both parties and instead just be plain old fashioned crazy!
